I'm a beginner woodworker trying to make a chessboard for my girlfriend, and I don't have access to a table saw. I'm planning to use a skill saw and I'm wondering what type of clamps would be best to ensure that I get perfectly straight cuts while cutting 50mm strips for the board. Any advice would be appreciated!

You might want to consider getting a rip guide, which can really help with straight cuts. Kreg makes a solid one that you can clamp to your material. Some guides even attach directly to your skill saw, which could be super handy! Just make sure to secure your workpiece properly before you start.

Thanks for the tip! I'm working with strips that are 2 inches wide and I'll be gluing eight of them together to get my chessboard size. I need to cut 2-inch squares but I want those cuts to be perfect. I'll check out the guide you mentioned!
