I'm looking for suggestions on plants that can thrive with almost no natural light. I've tried searching online, but some of the recommendations, like nerve plants, clearly need more light. I want to brighten up my workspace with a little green without putting a plant through a tough time. Ideally, I need something that can manage on fluorescent lighting or maybe even air plants. I just really dislike the thought of it slowly dying due to lack of light. Any advice or recommendations? Thanks so much!

Honestly, most plants will struggle without light, but there are a few that can tolerate low conditions. ZZ plants and snake plants are pretty resilient and do fine with minimal light. Also, lucky bamboo is great for desktops—just keep it in water and give it some plant food occasionally. You might consider if your workplace allows a desk lamp too; a full-spectrum grow light can really make a difference.
If you're set on a live plant, pothos is definitely a solid choice. They can be grown in water, so you don't have to worry too much about soil or overwatering. Plus, they're forgiving when it comes to light conditions. But honestly, having a small grow light would open up a lot more options if you're willing to invest in that.
If you're really serious about getting a live plant, consider a small grow light! They sell USB-powered mini grow lights that could help with low-light situations. Just know that some colleagues might not be fans of live plants during gnat season, so keep that in mind! Air plants could also work well if you give them a little light. Fake plants are a no-fuss option too.
I totally agree with the grow light suggestion! Mini ones are super handy and can really change the game for plant care.
A terrarium with some moss and a little grow light could be really cute if you have the space! It’s a great way to keep plants while overcoming the light issue. Plus, you can make it a fun project!

I've got a ZZ plant at my desk, and it's doing just fine with just the overhead lighting from the office!
