I'm a new gardener starting out in Zone 4b, Minnesota, and I've got a budget of $300 for tools. I've already taken care of the raised bed and soil, and I'm looking to grow a variety of plants like tomatoes, bell peppers, garlic, and more in my 4x8 raised bed and a few grow bags. I already own a wheelbarrow, shovels, a weed puller, a rake, shears, and trowels. I'm curious about what tools I should prioritize within my budget. I definitely want to get advice on seed-starting supplies and maybe a watering can, a hoe, a fork, and some materials for pest control. What tools do you suggest that made your gardening life easier?

You might want to be a bit more strategic about what you plant. With a 4x8 bed, I'd suggest cutting down your list to 3-4 plants to avoid overcrowding. Since you're in a cooler climate, consider row covers or hoop houses to extend your growing season.
I may need to cut down on my plants too; can you link me to suggested types of covers?
If you're planning on starting seeds, definitely consider getting a heat mat and an adjustable grow light. I have mine suspended from a chain so I can raise or lower it as needed, which works great!
Just grabbed a couple 5000K hanging shop lights from Menard's!
You definitely want to invest in a quality soil knife—it's super versatile for planting, weeding, and even opening seed packets. A tile spade is also a good buy since it has a longer blade than a regular spade, which is great for digging. I recommend checking out Fiskars for some loppers and pruners, as their tools are reliable. Don't forget about a good leaf rake, especially one that's wide for quick clean-up!
Just the kind of info I need, thanks!
This. Best garden tool ever.
I'd recommend focusing your budget on a good hoe and a hand fork since they'll get a lot of use. You might also want to invest in a sturdy watering can or a hose nozzle. For starting seeds, basic trays and a cheap shop light will do just fine—no need for anything fancy to get good results!
Have any links to which type of hoe and fork? I think a nice long wooden handle would be good, but I’m unsure about the blade style.
If you need to move things around, investing in a two-wheel barrow is a game changer compared to a single-wheel. It makes transporting stuff so much easier!
I have a single-wheel already so I'll have to make do.
Shopping estate sales and garage sales can save you a bunch of money on tools. You won’t believe how cheap you can find them and they often last longer than new ones!
If your area has one, Habitat for Humanity Restore is a great place to get gently used tools.

That's what I was thinking too. Any recommendations on the types of covers or hoops that work best?
