Best Evergreen Climber for a South-Facing Wall?

Asked By GreenThumb82 On

I'm looking for suggestions on fast-growing, evergreen climbing plants to cover a one-story extension wall. The wall is about 4 meters tall, and since it's south-facing, it gets direct sunlight all day. I've got easy access to the roof for trimming, so maintenance shouldn't be an issue. The wall is made of white brick, and I've noticed that my soil is loamy and sandy, but it could use some extra care after some recent building work. I would appreciate any tips on prepping the soil and what materials to buy! I love wisteria but I'm a bit concerned it takes too long to look full and lush. Thanks in advance for your help!

Why not try evergreen star jasmine? It looks gorgeous against white brick and has a lovely scent! Also, clematis armandii is another great option. Just remember to mix in some compost to improve your soil structure, and maybe add wires or a trellis to help it climb. You'll be all set!

You might want to consider pyracantha. It's a beautiful plant that stays nice all year round and can climb really well!

Combining evergreen star jasmine with winter clematis could create a stunning effect alongside wisteria! Just be sure to establish the wisteria first.

That sounds beautiful! I guess I'll need to get the wisteria set up before the others!

Clematis Montana could be a solid choice! It grows quickly, but just keep in mind it's not evergreen. Maybe pair it with a winter-flowering variety to keep things interesting year-round?
