How can I keep neighborhood cats from using my garden as their litter box?

I've been dealing with a significant issue in my garden with neighborhood cats leaving messes. In just the past two weeks, I've had to clean up after them nine different times—both in my front and back gardens. I've tried various remedies like vinegar, citrus scents, and oils, but nothing seems to deter them. The smell is awful, and I'm at my wit's end. Does anyone have any effective solutions?

One thing that's worked well for me is using holly leaves as mulch. Cats seem to dislike the texture and smell, and it stops them from coming into my garden.

Consider investing in a motion-activated sprinkler. They cost around 30 pounds and are super effective at scaring away unwanted animals. Cats hate water!

Straw can also be a great mulch to prevent cats from digging in your garden. It worked for me and created a barrier that they just didn't want to cross.

I've got a method for catching the neighborhood cats off-guard. I just chase them out by opening the door, hissing, and clapping my hands. After a few times, they learned to avoid my place altogether. But be prepared, your neighbors might think you're a little nuts!

A water gun works wonders too! Just give them a little spray when they come near, and they’ll think twice before returning.

Haha, I can imagine the look on your neighbors' faces! But honestly, anything to keep the litter away!

I used bamboo skewers to create barriers in my garden. Standing them upright close together prevents cats from getting in. It might look a bit odd, but it kept my garden safe from paws!
