I recently upgraded my kids' power wheel jeeps after moving to a house with a larger yard that has some steep spots. I replaced the old 12V lead acid battery with an 18V 8Ah lithium drill battery, which definitely increased their speed and power, allowing them to handle the yard better. However, I'm really frustrated because the new batteries seem to be dying just as fast as the old 2Ah ones! I thought the 8Ah would last much longer, but that hasn't been the case. I'm not an expert in electronics, but I have some skills. One idea I've had is to add a second battery with a switch to manage power. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

It sounds like your 8Ah battery isn't performing as it should. If it’s only lasting as long as your 2Ah, it's likely not a true 8Ah battery. Often, off-brand batteries can have exaggerated ratings. You might want to check if it’s genuinely rated for that capacity or if it’s just an overpriced knockoff.
Have you checked if the battery might be old? Sometimes new batteries can be faulty. If that's not the issue, consider getting a bigger capacity battery. That should help!

Yeah, both my 8Ah batteries are off-brand from Amazon, while my 2Ah ones are older Ryobi batteries. It's kind of weird that the differences are so minimal. I have two jeeps and four batteries in total! Maybe I should look for a more reputable battery.
