Hey there! I'm in my 20s and I've never attempted to grow a beard before, but I've been growing one for about 3 months now. It's still filling in, especially at the center area under my jaw where it's quite thin and it hasn't yet connected to my mustache. I'm really hoping it fills out more in the next couple of months, but I'm looking for tips on how to take care of it in the meantime. What's the best way to comb or style it if it's only about an inch long? Also, how do I wash it without causing damage? My hair care routine is pretty simple with just shampoo and conditioner a couple of times a week, so I'm at a loss when it comes to beard care, especially with all the products out there. I have an electric razor with guards, a Gillette ProGlide for shaving, and some shaving essentials. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks everyone!

Be sure to dry your beard properly as it gets thicker. Having a dedicated hand towel just for your beard can help prevent rashes or infections. And while you're growing it, just let it do its thing, even if it's patchy. It's hard to shape a beard that isn’t fully there yet, so wait until it fills out before trimming.
Also, it might be good to join some forums or communities focused on beard care for tips and advice.
You should definitely look into Beardbrand on YouTube. They have loads of helpful videos on beard care and styling. I learned a ton from their tutorials when Growing mine out past an inch.
Totally! Their advice is worth watching.
Yep, good find! Their content is super informative.
Definitely check out resources like r/beards to get lost in the world of beard care. You’ll want to get a brush, comb, conditioner, and beard oil. They can make a huge difference in maintenance.
Thanks for the tip!
Make sure you do some research before diving in; it can get pretty overwhelming!
My wife got me a nice beard shampoo and oil that really softens it up. Just remember that everyone’s experience with products varies, so what works for me might not work for you.
Could you share the brand or where to find it?
Yeah, I'd love to know too!
I’m a no-poo guy and it works well for me. I just scrub my beard with my fingers while showering and use shampoo when absolutely necessary. For maintenance, I use scissors to trim any scraggly parts. I also suggest staying away from electric razors if you’ve got sparse areas since they can create split ends.
That’s solid advice! Regular scissors are definitely gentler on the hair.
Do you think regular shampoo is okay for beards?

Totally agree! First timers really just need to see how their beard grows. Oils and conditioners can help a lot, but you might not need them right away. I keep mine short enough that I don’t do too much beyond drying it.
