How Can I Regain My Lost Sex Drive After Taking Strattera?

Hey everyone, I lost my sex drive when I was 15 after taking a medication called Strattera, and now that I'm 21, it's still gone. It's really affecting me, both physically and mentally. I've wondered if I might have an infection, but I'm confused about what's happening. I feel sick a lot and have zero interest in sex, which is frustrating because I can't even consider dating anyone. I'd love to hear from anyone who has been through something similar or has advice on how to get my sex drive back.

My experience with Strattera was rough too. I noticed low libido as well, and it made everything complicated. Talk to your doctor about switching medications if needed. You don’t want to go years feeling like this. There are other medications like Wellbutrin that can sometimes help with these issues without the side effects. Worth mentioning!

I think you're right; I want to discuss alternatives with my doctor. I've suffered long enough.

Exactly, several people find success with different medications. It’s all about finding what works for you!

Have you had an open conversation with your doctor about this? It’s important to make sure there aren’t any underlying medical issues affecting you. In addition to that, therapy might be worth looking into to help you navigate these feelings. It's also good to evaluate what you want out of a relationship—are you looking for companionship or just physical intimacy?

I’ve never brought this problem up with my doctor. I honestly thought I was just being dramatic about it. Maybe I should!

That might be a good idea! If you feel comfortable enough, discussing your sexual health could really change things.

You really need to consult a doctor. The longer you stay on the same medication, the more it can create issues with libido. On top of that, lifestyle factors like exercise, diet, and mental health can play big roles too. It’s worth looking into natural supplements as a complementary approach as well, like Ashwagandha, but definitely get a professional’s opinion first!

That sounds reasonable, but I have no clue where to even begin with what kind of doctor to see.

You might want to start with your primary care doctor or look for an endocrinologist to check hormone levels.

First off, it sounds like you definitely need to see a doctor. This isn't just a casual issue; it's a real health concern. Sometimes, the medication can mess with your brain's chemistry, and getting on or off certain meds can take a toll on your sex drive. You might find that this is just a temporary situation as your body adjusts, but a doctor could help figure that out for you.

Totally agree. I was on an SSRI that really dropped my sex drive. It took a couple of months after stopping before things started getting back to normal for me.

Exactly! And honestly, it's all too common. Sometimes, even when you adjust medically, making lifestyle changes can also help.
