How Can I Get Rid of Deodorant Smell from My Dress Shirts?

Asked By MysteriousFox88 On

I've been having trouble with my dress shirts holding onto the deodorant smell, especially after washing. Recently, I noticed the scent from Old Spice High Endurance combined with a sweet aroma even after laundering. I typically use Seventh Generation detergent and Suavitel fabric softener, but it doesn't seem to help. What can I do to eliminate this deodorant odor from my shirts?

I had this problem too until I found a great mix of hydrogen peroxide and baking soda. Apply it to the stained areas, leave it for a bit, and then wash. Preventative measures like Certain Dri antiperspirant work wonders, just try not to apply it right before you wash it off in the morning!

Consider pre-treating the underarm areas with distilled vinegar before washing. It really helps!

Soak it for a few minutes before washing, and you should be set!

Switching to a dry spray antiperspirant made a big difference for me. It helped prevent any more damage to my shirts!

Wearing undershirts is a solid preventive measure. I’ve been doing that for years, and it keeps my dress shirts in good shape without the deodorant staining.

Any good undershirt brands you recommend?

Vinegar is a game changer! Just toss some into your wash. It’s super effective, especially on those kitschy athletic shirts.

Good to know! I was worried about damaging my washer with vinegar.

I always soak the armpit area in vinegar for a couple of hours before washing, and it makes a big difference!
