I recently picked up some nice big terracotta pots from my local store that are about 10-12 inches wide and 4-5 inches deep. I'm excited to create a little succulent garden and I'm considering planting three or four different succulents in it. I already have an Echeveria, two Haworthia, a Sedum, a Ripple Jade, and an Aloe Vera. However, I'm open to getting more if these aren't the best choices. What succulents would work well together in this setup?

A good rule is to combine succulents that have similar leaf thickness and watering needs. Echeverias get along well together, so mixing different types of them could create a lovely display. Just keep an eye on your Haworthia; it prefers less direct sun than the others.

If you're looking to mix succulents, it's essential to pair ones with similar water and light needs. I’d say go ahead and group your Echeveria and the Ripple Jade together because they thrive under similar conditions. Just be careful with the Haworthia as it tends to be a bit finicky about sunlight and water. Maybe keep it solo or with other shade-loving succulents.
Yeah, I've noticed Haworthias do better when they're not competing with the thirstier types. Echeverias are more forgiving!

Totally agree! I did a mix of Echeveria types once and it turned out great.
