Hey everyone, I just had a quote from Renewal by Andersen for a dual front door with sidelights, and they hit me with a staggering price of $42,000! We chose a standard craftsman door with a square top window and standard sidelights. I'm just baffled! Is this realistic? Are their doors really that fancy? Or was the salesman just trying to get out of there with an outrageous number?

Honestly, you could probably screw up a door install 42 times and still not hit that price! Just check out some YouTube tutorials, or hire a handyman if you're not feeling up to it. This shouldn't be that insane of a job!
You can definitely find that door for much less at a local lumber yard. Just grab a few quotes from independent installers to compare prices!
Unfortunately, that quote is all too real. Renewal by Andersen is notorious for overpricing their products. You should definitely check what doors are actually worth, including labor costs, and get a second opinion from a local installer. If they come back, just tell them to take a hike!

Exactly! These guys are known to upsell like crazy. Home Depot tends to have much better prices with good warranties.
Sounds like they quoted you for a door to Narnia or something! Seriously, you should definitely get a few other estimates before you consider taking a loan for a doorknob!
