Hi all! I'm diving into gardening for the first time and I'm super excited to start a brand-new garden. I'm moving to a new place with plenty of space—about 180 meters by 80 meters—where I've got a flat, sunny area. It hasn't been used for gardening before, so I know I'll need to add some quality soil and compost to kick things off. I'm planning to grow a mix of 4-5 types of tomatoes and around 6 varieties of hot peppers. My girlfriend has some gardening experience and wants to plant a variety of veggies mainly for pickling. If anyone has tips on how to layout my garden beds or any other useful advice, I would really appreciate it! Thanks!

Great to see you're starting a garden! For a first-time gardener, I'd advise starting small. Consider whether you want to go with in-ground planting or raised beds. Both can work well! If you choose raised beds, they can help with soil drainage and warmth. Since you're looking to grow a good number of tomatoes and peppers, look for starter plants at a local nursery this year—it's a great way to get the hang of it without the pressure of growing from seeds. Each season, you can expand as you learn more. Remember, it's all about enjoying the process!

Thanks for the tips! I chatted with someone at a garden shop who suggested in-ground with compost, so I might go that route!
