Advice Needed for My Off-Grid Solar Setup for Crypto Mining

Hey everyone! I'm diving into a home project where I want to set up an off-grid solar system to power my crypto mining, specifically Monero mining. My current setup uses around 1.4 kWh, and I'm a bit concerned about whether my solar system can handle that demand without frying my equipment.

I've been researching some parts for my solar setup, which will consist of a tracker, solar panels, an inverter, and a battery. Right now, I'm clearing trees in my backyard to optimize sunlight, as I prefer not to place the panels on the roof. Here's what I'm looking at:
- ECO Worthy single-axis tracker (supports 2 panels, max width 44.8 inches) for $300
- BougerRV 800-watt solar panels at 23% efficiency (2 panels, $760)
- Eco-Worthy 48V 5000W hybrid inverter for $800
- Eco-Worthy 48V 280Ah 14.33kWh battery for $2600

I'd love your advice on whether these parts are sufficient to continuously support my mining setup, particularly with the 1.4 kWh demand. Also, I'm exploring options for circuit breakers and connectors. I plan to set the panel angle at 32 degrees for optimal performance. Currently, I have the tracker, but I'm still figuring out the best panel options and whether I need additional trackers to charge the battery effectively. Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

You’ll probably need more like 2500 watts of solar capacity to comfortably support your setup. If you’re considering adding more trackers with the same panels, just keep in mind that those additional ones will come in handy during cloudy days, too.

I was planning on using 3 trackers total with the same panels, which would give me around 2400 watts. Do you think that’s still going to be cutting it close on those cloudy days?

Your numbers look a bit off. Just to clarify, you're talking about drawing 1.4 kW when running, right? Keep in mind that solar trackers may not be the best investment; modern panels work well from multiple angles, and you could be wasting money there. Also, remember that you’ll need enough battery capacity to cover days when your panels aren’t generating any power—so your current 14.3 kWh battery might only last about 10 hours at full load.

I suggest skipping the trackers entirely and just oversizing your solar panels. Without knowing your exact location, it’s tough to give precise numbers, but I’d recommend getting 4 to 8 solar panels rated between 300-400 watts each. You'll thank yourself later for the extra capacity, especially since you can expand your system as needed.
