Advice Needed for Step Down Power Supply in My Pneumatic Potato Launcher

Hey everyone! I'm currently building a pneumatic potato launcher and I have a few questions regarding the electronic trigger system I'm planning to use. I'm going to power it with an 18v battery from power tools, but I need to step that down to 12v. What would you suggest for a step down board? Also, I need to set up a power distribution board—should I look for a separate one or is there a device that can handle both functionalities in one?

Hey! You might want to clarify why you need to step down the voltage, and how many components you're planning to power. If you're using a step-down module with screw terminals, you can directly connect a few components there, maybe 2-3 in total.

I get your concern about mixing voltages. If your trigger button is rated for 12v but your source is 18v, it's risky to connect them directly. It’s definitely best to step down the voltage before hitting the button.
