I'm looking for some advice on how to securely install a cube shelving unit in a small space. I'm considering using four L-brackets placed behind the unit, with the bottom forming an 'L' shape and the top shaped like an 'r' with the back hidden away. The shelving unit itself is heavy enough that I can lift it onto my shoulder, but I couldn't carry it for long distances. I'll be using it to hold lightweight decorative items like lamps, ornaments, and pictures. The wall has wood paneling, which once held bookshelves directly mounted without brackets. Is this plan feasible, or should I reconsider my approach?

Definitely drill through the paneling and into the studs! It's essential to use the right fasteners to ensure everything stays secure. Just make sure you're not only relying on the paneling for support.

How thick is typical paneling? Mine is about 2cm. Should I still aim for the studs? And how do you even locate them behind the paneling?
