Advice on Choosing Vinyl Plank Flooring for a Daycare

Hey everyone! I'm looking for some advice on vinyl plank flooring for a small daycare space (about 500 sq ft) and would really appreciate any personal experiences or recommendations. I need flooring that will be installed over a concrete subfloor and has to be waterproof and super durable to handle spills and the rough play of kids. Comfort is also important, as kids will be crawling and falling, so I'd like some cushion underfoot. Scratch resistance is a must, and I'd prefer something low VOC and non-toxic for better indoor air quality.

I'm considering a few options from Home Depot and Lowe's: LifeProof (22 MIL wear layer), Bruce Assurity (20 MIL wear layer), Element Flooring – Lotus (30 MIL wear layer), Mohawk Elite (20 MIL wear layer), and SmartCore Ultra XL (12 MIL wear layer). I have a few questions: Have you tried any of these? How do they hold up over time? Do you regret choosing SPC over WPC (or the other way around)? And in a daycare setting, would you prioritize more cushion or more durability? Thanks in advance for your help!

The best deal I've found is at Sam's Club—they ship, and I got 20 mil for under $2 per foot. It's a solid option if you're looking for good value without sacrificing quality!

I went with the Mohawk PureTech line, and I’m very satisfied with it. It’s held up nicely with the kids running around. Definitely worth considering!

We've been really happy with LifeProof flooring. We installed it about a year ago, and it’s performed well for us! We did choose to add an extra layer of underlayment for additional cushioning, and I think that was a great decision. It keeps it comfortable for the kiddos!

Thanks for sharing! What made you decide to go with the extra underlayment? And which brand did you choose for it?
