Advice on Door Options and Cost for Home Office Project

I'm looking to enhance my home office by adding some doors for more privacy, especially while working from home with the kids around. I have a few ideas: I'm considering putting in a sliding door from the office to the kitchen, as well as potentially using glass-pane French doors or a single glass-pane door. I want to know what types of doors would work best, and I'm also curious about the estimated cost for this kind of project in the Houston, TX area.

Have you thought about closing off the entrance from the kitchen and only having access from the hallway? This could improve privacy and reduce noise. If you keep the doorway open, just a heads up that door prices are going up! A standard pre-hung door that's usually around $350 is now closer to $500! You might also need to factor in costs for framing, drywall, and painting if you're going the French door route. They do look great, though!

I like the idea of coming in from the hall! Closing off the archway with glass French doors would look amazing. Plus, it might help with airflow if you need to clear out smoke from cooking.

Thanks for the input! I'm definitely leaning towards the hallway entrance for better access. I’ll update with more pics of the pantry relocation idea.

Regarding the gap under your doors, it could be that there was old flooring that got replaced. Seems like your pantry door has a similar issue. For costs, if you're looking to go the glass-pane route, keep in mind that custom framing could jack up the price depending on your space. There’s a lot of variables in play! Just watch out for the current pricing trends; doors aren't as cheap as they used to be!
