I'm looking to revamp my living space and considering building my own couch. I've always gotten cheap options from friends or local marketplaces, but with prices for new ones skyrocketing, I'm exploring DIY solutions. My idea is to use an old couch frame, replace the cushions and filling, and reupholster it myself. I've also thought about starting small, perhaps with a mini version for my dogs, just to test the process. Has anyone here attempted something similar or have advice on how to make an old couch look new? Any tips on sourcing materials or techniques would be appreciated!

Building your own couch can be a challenge, but totally rewarding! I customized a sofa a few years back using a company called Monarch. I chose a design, modified dimensions, and sourced durable fabrics separately. Surprisingly, it ended up costing less than many options in stores, and it's still in great shape after 7 years! Plus, no cheap materials were used in the build. Definitely look into custom options if you can, or get creative with your own builds for something uniquely yours!

That's impressive! I love the idea of a custom build. I've been struggling with fabric choices too, there seems to be a lack of durability in many options.
