Hey everyone! We're looking to replace our current shower without overhauling the whole bathroom. It measures 46 inches wide and 30 inches deep, and we want to enlarge it a bit by swapping out the French doors for a single door. This change would allow us to make the shower deeper—possibly extending it by 16 to 24 inches—and we'll also be repositioning the shower heads and lights to the center. The light switches will be moved, so that shouldn't be an issue.
My concern is how to make the part of the shower that extends beyond the bathtub wall look good and to handle the angled corner to avoid a weird triangular space. Would it be better to keep the drywall between the bathtub and shower in place and install a glass wall for the extended section? Also, are there any potential water leak issues we should be aware of with this setup? Appreciate any advice!

If you’re making changes, consider taking down the wall separating the tub and shower and replacing it with a glass panel. This can really elevate the look and functionality. Great idea! Definitely discuss this with your contractor. I get the concern about the tile, but they might be able to salvage some pieces during demolition. As for the bench configuration, it can be tricky with the window nearby, but I'm sure they can find a creative solution!
