Affordable Multi-Tool Blades That Last?

Asked By CraftyNomad42 On

I'm looking for recommendations on multi-tool blades that are both affordable and durable, especially for cutting wood and metal. I find it hard to justify spending $40 on a single blade, as they seem to wear out so quickly. Are there any brands or types you all have had good experiences with?

To be honest, I've never had much luck with multi-tool blades. I've tried some expensive ones that last a bit longer, but paying $30 for just two blades is pretty ridiculous. What I do now is buy those cheap bulk packs from Amazon. They don’t last as long, sure, but at around 50 cents each, if one gets messed up, it’s no big deal. They’re cheap enough that I can just toss them and grab a new one without feeling guilty about it.

I was thinking about going that route too! Last time I looked, some Diablo or Milwaukee blades looked decent, but I'm not sure if I need to splurge unless they’re the really durable metal ones.

If you're tackling tough woods like Jarrah, I've found that bi-metal blades work much better. I went through several regular wood blades before switching to bi-metal ones, and now I can cut deeper without overheating. Just try to pick ones that are reasonably priced; I recently got a pack from Temu for about a buck each!

That’s helpful advice! I was struggling with some tough materials too. Thanks for the tip!

Honestly, the cheapest sets have worked best for me. I bought a set of 56 blades on Amazon for $26, and they’ve outperformed my previous expensive brands. Each cheap blade lasts around half the time as a name brand, but at 50 cents each, I can afford to work them hard without stress. Plus, a fresh cheap blade always cuts better than a used expensive one. I’m never going back to overpriced brands.

Do you happen to have a link for those blades? I’ve seen people recommend ez-arc blades before, but it's tough to know what's good with all the flashy online listings.
