I'm on the lookout for reasonably-priced seed potatoes to plant for a Christmas harvest, specifically a variety like Charlotte. The prices I've found are outrageous, with the cheapest being around £8 for just a few. I have only three grow bags, so I don't need many. I thought about using some of the potatoes I just harvested, but I heard they need to stay dormant for a while. Can anyone suggest where to find a small number of seed potatoes at a decent price?

I usually just grab potatoes from the supermarket, and surprisingly, they grow really well! My neighbor had great success with some early-season ones they chitted right in the plastic bag. If you decide to go this route, I recommend rinsing them in cool water to remove any sprout inhibitors, but be gentle not to damage them. Once they're dry, you can chit them as usual. If you're interested in proper seed potatoes, check out RHS Plants; they have Charlotte for £4 for five.

Wow, I had no idea you could just use supermarket potatoes! I'll have to give that a try. Thanks for the tip!
