I'm looking for budget-friendly ways to secure 13 elevated windows in my commercial building, which used to be a Walgreens. My goal is to prevent break-ins without spending a ton of money. I need something that can be installed on the inside, like metal bars or brackets, but I don't want it to make the building look too much like a jail from the outside. I've heard about security window film, but I'm a little skeptical about its effectiveness against determined intruders. Has anyone had real-life experience with this? Also, I've got longer horizontal windows that need reinforcement too. I'd appreciate any ideas or product recommendations. Cameras with motion-activated spotlights are super effective. While security film won’t stop the glass from breaking, it does help keep it from shattering and makes it tougher for anyone trying to break in.
I’m surprised this former Walgreens doesn’t already have some heavy-duty steel security curtains—they're pretty common to keep out thieves.
Bars are great for deterring burglars visually, but if they're inside, that effect is lost. A good option might be a prominent security camera setup with motion detection. You could even add a two-way speaker to scare off intruders when they trigger an alert!
