Am I Being Overcharged for My Downspout Drainage?

I'm in the process of burying downspouts and sump pump drainage in my yard. Initially, I discussed using schedule 40 piping with the company. However, when I dug deeper into the pipe types, I found out that they plan to use schedule 35 green sewer pipe instead. I was surprised to learn that the quote for the schedule 35 is actually about a dollar more per unit. But online, it seems that schedule 35 is cheaper, and even the specific products linked to me at Menards show a price difference in that direction. Can the prices differ when a business buys from Menards? Is it normal for standard schedule 35 to be cheaper while this green sewer type isn't? The total job is quoted at $2500 for 250 feet of solid core schedule 40 PVC materials, which I intend to buy myself. I just need to know if this situation raises any red flags. If I'm being misled about the pricing, should I insist on the schedule 40 that I was originally quoted?

Sounds sketchy, right? I'd push them for a fair adjustment on the bill or stick with schedule 40. Schedule 35 is usually about $10 cheaper per stick, and fittings for it are even less costly. The durability of schedule 40 is unbeatable for downspouts—you're looking for longevity, not to deal with issues down the line. Unless you're planning to drive heavy vehicles over it, schedule 40 will outlast the competition!

We plan to be here for 20-25 years, so we definitely want something durable that won’t require replacements anytime soon. We’d like the flexibility to extend our patio and plant trees without worrying about drainage issues.

I wouldn't let them switch to SDR35 if you're ready to pay for schedule 40. Schedule 40 is way stronger and saves you a bunch of hassle in the long run. SDR35 can warp and might not hold up well around roots. I get that prices can vary regionally, but this smells like a bait and switch to me!
