Hey fellow gardeners! I could use your advice about a situation with my neighbors. We share a hedge with them, and they have a gardener while we don't. I spent my Saturday clearing leaves and debris from our garden, which is a bit of a chore since our front door is 18 steps up! Just yesterday, their gardeners came by, and now there are more leaves and even cuttings on our side. My partner thinks I should just let it go, but I feel it would be polite to ask them to redirect the leaves instead of blowing them over. Am I being unreasonable for wanting to bring this up? Would love to hear your thoughts!

If it’s just a one-time thing, maybe let it slide. But if you see this happening every week, I’d definitely bring it up. It’s not like it’s your neighbors being careless – it’s their hired help!
Honestly, since it’s a shared hedge and they’re paying to maintain it, it might be best to keep your head down. They’re doing you a favor, and a few leaves shouldn’t be that big of a deal. But hey, that’s just my two cents!
I get wanting to keep your paths clear, but I’m a bit confused why you’re clearing leaves from your garden beds—aren’t they like a natural mulch? Still, if those leaves are covering newly planted stuff, that’s a different story!
I say just ask them politely! Most people are cool with simple requests like that. Don’t be afraid to speak up, folks often are, but it’s always worth a shot!
