Am I in Danger After Pulling Up Poison Hemlock Without Gloves?

Today, I accidentally pulled out what I believe to be poison hemlock without using gloves. The plant looked dead and wasn't green, but I saw the stem as I tossed it aside. I rushed inside and thoroughly scrubbed my hands afterward. Right now, I don't have any rashes or symptoms, but I'm really anxious about this. Can anyone reassure me that I will be okay?

I totally get your worry! It's understandable to freak out after handling something like poison hemlock. I’ve read that unless you're ingesting it, just handling it isn't as big of a deal. You can find loads of info online about managing accidental exposure, so maybe check that out for peace of mind. And yeah, if you see any strange symptoms pop up, don’t hesitate to get some professional advice!

Hey! If you didn’t eat any part of the plant or make a tea, you should be alright. Poison hemlock can be found in PA, but just touching it usually isn't dangerous unless you have an open wound or something. Just keep an eye on your skin for any reactions over the next day or so. If you start feeling weird, don’t hesitate to call your doctor or poison control just to be safe!
