I moved into my newly built home about three years ago, and I had a problem with water leaking from a badly installed shower door. The builders eventually fixed it, but I neglected to have them address the water-damaged baseboard nearby, which I now realize was a mistake. A year and a half later, I decided to tackle the baseboard repair myself, but it turns out I waited too long—the board had rotted, making it tough to remove, and the drywall beneath isn't in great shape either. I'm really worried about the condition of the joists and any other wood underneath. Should I carry on with this as a DIY project, or is it better to call in a pro? If so, what kind of professional do I need? Here's a pic for reference: https://imgur.com/a/XhaneLn

Honestly, if you're not super confident in your skills, it might be wise to get some professional help. Water damage can lead to bigger issues, especially if those joists are compromised. Better safe than sorry!
