A few weeks ago, on a whim, I threw some sprouting gold baby potatoes into a pot while re-potting another plant. Unfortunately, I got really sick and haven't been able to take care of them properly. I know they probably need a bigger space, and I have a 5-gallon bucket ready to transfer them into, but I have no clue if I've messed them up already. Will moving them harm them further?

Honestly, it's probably best to just move them once to the bucket. That'll save you some effort later. Plus, best of luck with your surgery!
Don't worry about your potatoes! It's definitely okay to replant them. They need more space to grow, so transferring them to a bigger container like your 5-gallon bucket will actually help them. When you move them, try to bury them a bit deeper - this will encourage more potatoes to grow and help avoid that greening issue.
