Am I Using the Online Deal Correctly?

I just received my online order for an M18 orbital sander, which came with a free battery. The sander cost $86.05, and the battery was originally priced at $62.95, totaling $149 before tax. I actually don't want the battery, so I'm wondering if I can return it for the standard price of $109. If that's the case, would the sander then only cost me about $40? (Edit: I think I messed up the math earlier)

From what I understand, returning the battery shouldn't affect your deal too much. You'll get back $62.95 plus any sales tax on that, so it could still work out alright for you!

Thanks! That still sounds like a good deal to me!

Just to clarify, the total you calculated before any discounts isn't correct. The total before tax is actually $149, so it doesn't add up the way you stated. Be careful with those calculations!

Yeah, my mistake! That makes more sense now.

Oops, I totally missed that too!

Unfortunately, you won't get the full price back for the battery. Instead, you'll get the reduced price back, which is $62.95. So that would leave you paying around $100.13 after tax for the sander, which still sounds like a decent deal to me!

So, I'd end up paying $100.13 plus tax for it? Still a good deal to me.

Thanks for clarifying that! You’ve earned an upvote from me.
