Anyone Built a Premium Fence for Their Garden to Keep Out Rabbits?

I'm getting into gardening and I've noticed a growing rabbit problem. They've been munching on my green beans and now they're also trying to get to my cucumbers! I'm considering a premium garden fence that really stands out, something you'd expect in a luxury home show—think rabbit-proof, made of cedar, with a real gate. But I'm struggling to find a builder since most fencing companies seem to focus on standard lot line fences like vinyl or chain link. I'm curious if anyone has had a similar experience. If you have, how happy are you with your fence? What was the cost like, and how did you find your builder? I could use some realities on pricing to help me out!

I faced a similar rabbit issue! What worked for me was building a cedar fence. I dug an 18-inch trench and installed hog wire to prevent any digging. While I wanted to keep my dogs in as well, a finer mesh would likely be better for keeping rabbits out. I went with a standard dog ear style, which most fence builders can do easily. Just make sure to specify if you want a straight stack or shadow box; shadow box is more efficient but won't keep the rabbits out as well. Don't forget about the copper caps for the columns—they really help with longevity! And if you decide to go with cedar, you might not need to stain it, but a solid body stain makes it look nicer and can extend its life.

That's super helpful! I wasn't sure about the shadow box style. I guess I’ll need to weigh my options on aesthetics versus functionality.

I've been tackling the same problem! Chicken wire has worked for me since rabbits seem a bit timid. Someone even suggested an electric fence, which sounds intriguing. I'm definitely looking into it to keep my veggies safe from any future nibblers!

I built a simple mobile fence temporarily using PVC tubing. It has worked wonders so far! Just make sure to keep it tall enough. Also, cayenne powder spread around the beds can repel them as well. It's not the most permanent solution, but it definitely buys time while I think of a more permanent fence.

Cayenne, huh? I might just give that a shot while I figure out my own fencing! Thanks for the tip!
