I recently bought a Dewalt string trimmer and had a frustrating experience. I used it once and then the motor started smoking. After getting it repaired under warranty, it died again after just a few more uses. I've probably used it only about eight times in total over the past year, and I've been diligent about cleaning the filter screens when they get dirty.
I'm curious if others have encountered problems with Dewalt trimmers, or if it's just my unfortunate experience. I initially chose this brand because I already have compatible batteries for my other Dewalt tools, but now I'm considering other brands due to these issues. Anyone else experiencing similar troubles or aware of any known issues with these trimmers?

It's interesting you're having those issues! I was looking into getting a Dewalt trimmer and blower for the same reasons you had—no mixing gas or oil! I own a Dewalt chainsaw which has been great, so I was hoping their trimmer would be just as reliable. Let me know which model you have when you can.
By the way, I had a Dewalt blower that lasted about five years before it gave up on me, but I also remember my trimmer not lasting long either. Definitely a bummer to hear about the newer models.
