Hey everyone! I came across this interesting shower wall finish and I'm trying to figure out what it is. It doesn't look like concrete, and it seems like a thin layer of plaster applied directly onto the backing board. Has anyone seen this type before? Is it a common finish, and how well does it hold up against moisture over time? Check out the picture here: https://imgur.com/a/qMNFNWe

It does have a rough texture, which makes me think it could feel a bit porous. If it reminds you of drywall mud before it's sanded down, that sounds about right! Might be a good idea to double-check if it has any sealing treatment to ensure it holds up well in a wet environment.
That finish looks pretty unique! It might be Tadelakt plaster, which is a lime-based plaster that gets treated with a special soap to make it waterproof. I remember seeing it on a renovation episode of This Old House; they used it on a Concord Country Cape remodel. It's not super common but definitely looks nice!

Yeah, it could definitely be something like that. Just keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't absorb too much moisture over time!
