Are Aroma Diffusers Safe for Pets?

I've been dealing with a mouse problem in my home and I've read that using PineSol or Peppermint oil can help keep them away. I'm even thinking about how to spread the scent through my HVAC system. However, I'm also planning to adopt a cat soon and I want to make sure that using a diffuser won't harm my new pet. Does anyone have experience with this?

Just a heads up, peppermint oil can be really dangerous for pets. It's toxic to both dogs and cats, so many essential oils can pose risks to your furry friends. You might want to focus on sealing up entrances and setting traps to deal with the mice instead.

It's crucial to remember that animals, especially cats, have a much better sense of smell than we do. They can be quite sensitive to essential oils. In fact, I don't use any scented products because my cat has asthma, and scents can trigger her. We only use unscented soaps and detergents. So, if you're adopting a cat, it might be wise to consider their health first and avoid diffusing oils in the house.

Unfortunately, many essential oils can be harmful to pets. Your best bet might be to find and seal any holes where the mice are coming in, and set some traps to handle the situation without putting your future cat at risk.
