Are Bell Pepper Plants Supposed to Grow Slowly?

I recently picked up a bell pepper plant and have been trying to grow it in a 5-gallon bucket. I'm concerned because it's not growing much taller compared to my patio tomatoes. It's filled out with leaves, but it has only gained about two inches in a month. Should I be worried about its slow growth? Any advice would be appreciated!

Your plant looks pretty healthy from the picture. Bell peppers can take around 90-110 days from seed to harvest, so don't rush it. If you're dealing with warm nights (60°F+) and 80°F daytime temps, your plant should really start to grow soon. Just keep an eye on the weather and protect it from any chill.

Tomato plants definitely tend to grow faster than bell peppers, so don’t let it stress you out too much. As long as your pepper is healthy and green, it's likely just taking its time. Bell peppers are generally slower to grow than other veggies, especially in their early stages. Just keep giving it the right care and sunlight!

Thanks for the reassurance! That's good to know.

That growth is normal! Peppers can be painfully slow, especially compared to tomatoes. Just make sure it’s getting plenty of sun, warmth, and consider adding some fish fertilizer to give it an extra boost. You'll get those peppers in time!

I use fish fertilizer too, and it really makes a difference!
