Hey everyone! I'm curious about cordless mitre saws, especially the ones from Dewalt. I've been reading a lot of reviews, and some mention issues with them failing after just 6 months to a year. Is it better to stick with a corded saw, or are there reliable cordless options out there?

I'm leaning toward getting a corded saw too. The extra cost of batteries and the convenience just isn't worth it for my needs. Corded saws have always been workhorses for me at the mills.
If you need something mobile for job sites, a cordless saw might be tempting, but honestly, I'd go with corded for reliability. The little bit of extra mobility with cordless just isn't worth it in most cases.
The only cordless model I've heard of that had issues was the DHS716 when used with the AC adapter, but on battery, it's still a solid saw. The newer DCS781 model is even better. I’ve used mine without any problems and wouldn’t consider going back to corded! Plus, there are new 20v options coming out soon.
It really comes down to how you'll be using it. If it's for stationary work at home, go corded. But if you need it on-site without easy access to power, then cordless is the way to go. Just be ready for heavier batteries if you choose FlexVolt.
I have a cordless 7 1/4” mitre saw and absolutely love it! But I’m not sold on the larger FlexVolt sizes—they kind of defeat the purpose of being cordless for me. My advice? If you don’t mind the mobility trade-off, just go for corded; it's more reliable in the long run and saves you from battery worries.
That’s definitely a fair point! The idea of not having to deal with battery life is appealing for sure.
