I've been having some serious concerns about Dewalt tools, especially circular saws. After doing some digging online, it seems like a lot of users report their Dewalt circular saws failing within the first two years, often after light use. I'm curious about the manufacturing locations because it appears a lot of these tools coming from Amazon are made in China, while the ones at Home Depot typically come from Mexico. I'd love to know if anyone has stats on failed tools, specifically if there's a correlation with those made in China versus Mexico. Has anyone had experiences with the Flexvolt products, too?

When looking at tool failures, it's crucial to consider the conditions under which they failed. Many issues stem from heat damaging the motors or neglecting maintenance, like changing brushes or bearings. Also, it's worth noting that packaging can mislead consumers about a product's origin due to customs laws. Just because something is labeled as made in a specific country doesn't guarantee it's fully made there. However, the longevity of tools often ties back to how well they’re used and maintained, irrespective of their origin. Just remember, cheaper products tend to have less durability too!
I've got a few Dewalt tools, and interestingly, the ones made in Mexico have held up well for me. For instance, my $99 DCS391 is made in Mexico, and I haven't had any issues. However, other Dewalt tools in my collection are made in China, and I can't say I've ever experienced a failure. That said, it's often true that tools' longevity can be influenced by how frequently they are used and their intended purpose.
That's good to hear! How long have you had those tools? Do you use them regularly?

Totally get that! I’m just starting out with tools and have been eyeing Dewalt. The reviews on their circular saws are making me think twice. Maybe I should check out Makita instead?
