I purchased a DeWalt lawnmower last year, which came with two 12 Ah FlexVolt batteries—usually, they just provide the 9 Ah ones. Unfortunately, one of the batteries completely died within a year, and the other only shows one bar of charge left. I'm hoping it's just a faulty indicator because I can still use it for tough jobs. Is this just my bad luck, or are these batteries known for poor quality?

I’ve had my run-ins with the 12 Ah FlexVolt batteries too. Out of five, I've seen a couple fail within a few months to a year. My other DeWalt batteries from 2018 are still going strong. I recently swapped eight of my 4 Ah batteries for the new powerpack variants and they seem to perform better. I really wish DeWalt would upgrade these FlexVolt models with better cells—until then, my 9 Ah batteries have been super reliable.
How can you identify the type of cells used in each battery?

Thanks for the insights! Good to know I’m not the only one dealing with this.
