Are DMT Diamond Stones Worth It?

Hey everyone! I'm considering buying a set of DMT diamond sharpening stones, specifically the coarse, fine, and extra fine ones. Each is priced at $62.99, which brings the total to $206.70. I've been wondering if anyone here has experience with these stones and whether they think it's a good price. Any input on their quality would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Yes, these stones are definitely considered good! I've been using the coarse and extra fine ones for about 3 years, and they're still working great. I found that prices are about the same everywhere, but check out this link I found: https://www.sharpeningsupplies.com/collections/dia-sharp-stones/products/dmt-8-dia-sharp-diamond-kit. Just a heads up though, I don't use my coarse stone that often, and I've heard the extra coarse loses its bite quicker than the others.

I've used these DMT stones, and they cut really well! I previously had some cheaper ones from Amazon that lasted around 3 years before I upgraded to these. The difference in quality is pretty noticeable, at least for me. I also got the 4-stone set with the extra coarse stone, and it’s been excellent for quick material removal. They really do perform better than the budget options!

Thanks! Do you have a link to the 4-stone set you're referring to?

I've got the coarse and extra fine stones too, and they've served me well for over 5 years. I thought about adding the fine stone, but according to some reliable YouTube reviewers, it’s often enough to stick with just the coarse for heavy use and the extra fine for touch-ups. That should save you some cash if you decide to go that route!

I managed to snag my set for a bit less than that, and I've had them for a few years now–they're still in top shape! The opinion on diamond stones can vary widely, but they work fantastic for me. I actually have the same grits that you linked, so you're looking at solid options!
