Hey folks, my town just mandated the use of electric leaf blowers for landscaping services. As a result, my landscaper has doubled their prices for spring and fall cleanups. I'm wondering if this is a fair increase or if others are experiencing similar price hikes. What do you think?

To really gauge if that price increase is justified, it might be helpful to get quotes from a few different landscaping companies for the same service. Keep in mind that electric blowers do come with their own set of challenges. They typically require multiple batteries, which can be pretty pricey—around $120 each. Plus, they run out of juice more quickly than gas blowers, requiring downtime to swap batteries and recharge, which can definitely add to the cost.
Yeah, the costs add up quickly with electric gear. Instead of using just one gas blower and a few gallons of gas, now your landscaper is dealing with a battery-powered blower and a bunch of batteries, not to mention charging them. I totally get why the prices would go up, but doubling them seems a bit steep to me.
I hadn’t really thought about the costs, but it’s wild. The initial investment for these electric blowers can run high—like, if I were to get two blowers with enough batteries for a day’s work, it’d cost me over $10,000! That’s assuming I don't have to charge from a customer's outlet, which is a whole other problem. I might just steer clear of working in areas with this new rule.
