I received quotes for two types of windows: the cheaper option is vinyl, priced at $9,000 (possibly Softlite, but I'm not entirely sure), and the more expensive option is Marvin fiberglass windows at $13,000. There's also a potential cash-back offer involved. I'm curious if the additional cost for fiberglass is justified. Both options come with a lifetime warranty, but the vinyl windows also cover accidental breakage. Should I spend more on the fiberglass?

If you're considering vinyl, make sure it's from a reputable company. Quality matters a lot; Marvin has a great reputation for their fiberglass, while I'm not entirely sure about Softlite. If there's no mention of the brand's quality in your quote, it might just be low-tier.
Most vinyl windows are marketed as "virgin vinyl," which means they're often made from new materials rather than recycled ones. A lot of the selling points for fiberglass might be just marketing to highlight potential weaknesses of vinyl, but you might find that good quality vinyl can still be a solid choice.
I'd say go for the Marvin windows. They're among the few brands that consistently deliver decent products. The investment might pay off in the long run with better durability and performance.
