I'm wondering if hardwood floors are really worth the extra cost and maintenance. They seem to scratch easily and aren't resistant to water, especially with the newer options like luxury vinyl plank (LVP) and wood-look tiles available. What do you all think?

Personally, I find LVP often looks and feels pretty cheap compared to the classic appeal of real hardwood. Hardwood floors have a timeless quality that I just love!
While LVP is marketed as durable, it doesn’t quite stack up when you consider real hardwood can be resanded and fixed over the years. Sure, hardwood scratches, but they often give character rather than ruin the look—especially if you choose a quality wood. Plus, LVP has issues with installation and moisture, so keep that in mind!
If you take care of them, hardwood floors can last for generations. It's a tough call on whether the cost is justified—it really comes down to your personal choice and lifestyle.

So are you saying I’d be crazy to replace my hardwood with LVP? ?
