Are Ladybugs Effective for Garden Pest Control?

Has anyone had success using bulk ladybugs to manage pests in their gardens? I've been noticing some pests munching on my vegetables and I'm considering giving ladybugs a shot for pest control. Any experiences or insights?

I've tried releasing both lacewings and ladybugs in my garden, and it really helped reduce my mealybug and aphid issues. I used a product called Nature's Good Guys, and for $60, it was definitely worth a try.

To really attract helpful predators like ladybugs, you should include some native plants in your garden. Just tossing in bulk ladybugs might not be effective since they could fly away if there's not enough to keep them around. If you have native Maryland plants, just be patient; they'll likely come on their own!

I have lots of native Maryland plants too! Maybe I'll just wait and see.

Instead of buying ladybugs, it might be better to grow plants that naturally attract them, like dill or marigolds. That way, you'll have a steady stream of these beneficial insects visiting your garden.

I tried ladybugs, but I think I didn’t have enough plants for them to stay around. They just disappeared after a short time!
