I've got about a dozen M12 batteries including some 6.0s, 4.0s, and a few smaller ones that came with various tools. Recently, both of my 6.0 batteries stopped working within the last three months, and of course, they're just out of warranty, so Milwaukee isn't much help. They've seen the same amount of use as my older 4.0s, which are still functioning fine. Before I go out and buy two new batteries, should I consider swapping the 6.0s for some 5.0s instead?

Yeah, the M12 6.0ah batteries have a notorious reputation for failing prematurely. Tons of users have experienced issues—it’s a pretty well-known problem in the community. I’d say you're better off looking for alternatives.
I'd suggest going for the 5.0s instead. I've seen some charts floating around showing battery performance, and the 6.0 always comes out as the worst option, while the 5.0 performs the best. Definitely a smarter choice if you're looking for reliability!
That's what I'm leaning towards too. The problems with the 6.0s seem pretty common.
Seriously, go for the 5ah. They even deliver more power when paired with the M12 stubby compared to the 6ah!
M12 6.0 batteries are definitely fragile. I usually avoid charging them fully unless I plan on using them the same day. I try to discharge them a bit before storing, which is tricky since I usually let them run down completely. I’ve got a few other batteries that haven’t failed like these, thankfully!
Same here! It's frustrating because my other batteries don’t have these issues, and I’ve been lucky enough to get replacements during the warranty period.
I had a similar issue with one of my 6.0 batteries getting stuck in 'party mode' on the charger. I finally got it to charge normally after cycling it on and off a few times. It's like the chargers won’t cooperate if the battery’s voltage dips too low. Might just need a little patience to revive them!
You might also want to check aftermarket options. I've seen some great 9ah M12 batteries on Amazon for less than what the official 2ah ones cost.

Totally agree! After doing some research, I found the same consensus online.
