I recently stumbled upon a huge majesty palm for a great price, but after doing some digging, I've found that they seem to have a reputation for being pretty tough to keep alive. My windows face north and east, which usually works well for low-light plants, but I'm wondering if that means the palm would struggle just based on lighting conditions. What are your thoughts?

Majesty palms do have a reputation for being difficult to maintain. They really prefer bright light and can suffer in lower light settings. If you’re set on getting one, make sure it has excellent drainage, consistent watering, and a mix that allows for air circulation. They're also susceptible to pests like spider mites. Consider looking into other indoor palms if you want something that's a little more forgiving, such as a parlor palm, especially for beginner plant parents.
Honestly, I don't know anyone who has managed to keep a majesty palm thriving! I think you'll need more light than just a north or east-facing window if you really want it to flourish. They tend to do better with brighter conditions.
Yeah, I’ve heard they need good light too. But if you're gonna get one, just be prepared to put in some extra work to keep it happy!
I’ve had a majesty palm that’s doubled in size, but I can't stress enough that they do require dedicated care. If you found it at a good price, why not give it a shot? Just be aware that they can be tricky, but they really do look beautiful in the right conditions!
For sure! They can be a stunning addition to your home if you can get the care right.

Great tips! They do need a specific environment to thrive, and if you’re not ready for that, you might end up with a struggle.
