I'm curious about the experiences of professionals who use Milwaukee tools daily, especially in carpentry. I've been using Milwaukee for about two years after switching from DeWalt. While I find their 18 and 23-gauge nailers impressive, I've had some disappointing experiences with other tools. My Milwaukee saws haven't impressed me, and I feel like they're not great for ripping lumber. I even think I burnt out the motor in my impact drill while working on a 2x4. Is Milwaukee really the preferred brand for carpenters, or should I consider switching back to DeWalt? I'd love to hear what other carpenters think. Thanks!

I've been using Milwaukee tools for years as a carpenter and haven’t really had any significant issues with them, though I don’t stick with just one brand. For me, the DeWalt multi-tool is way better because of its trigger system. The Milwaukee impacts sometimes have this annoying auto torque setting that activates itself, which can be frustrating. If you're having problems with your impact driver, make sure it’s not just a usability issue because those tools can be pretty tough.
Totally agree! That auto torque setting is such a pain sometimes.
If you’re looking for a good circular saw, check out the 60-volt DeWalt one! I’ve got a DeWalt hammer drill, and even though it can be a bit rough on your wrists, it's pretty solid. At work, we use the Milwaukee M18 SDS hammer drill, and honestly, it outperforms anything else. Just make sure you’re using good batteries like 5ah or higher; that makes a big difference!
Agreed! Battery quality really matters.
That sounds like a great setup! I’ll have to try the DeWalt saw.
I feel like your issues might just be with some bad luck. I've had Milwaukee tools for over ten years and hardly ever run into problems, even with some heavy use. Just recently I noticed some impacts have reported issues despite normal use, so it could be worth looking into warranties. But overall, both Milwaukee and DeWalt have solid options—Milwaukee nailers are fantastic, while DeWalt tends to have the edge with their saws.
Great advice! I need to check on my warranty.
I always try to stick with Milwaukee nailers for that reason!

Definitely! It’s more about the technique sometimes.
