Are My Container Tomatoes Safe After Getting Covered in Insulation Dust?

I accidentally left a container of tumbling tomatoes outside while some insulation boards were being installed. Unfortunately, they ended up with a layer of insulation foam dust on them. I'm concerned about any harmful chemicals that the plants and soil might have been exposed to. Are my plants ruined, or am I just being overly anxious?

The term 'insulation panels' can be vague, but you should know what type was used. If it's polystyrene foam, that's pretty standard. In today's world, it's unlikely they're using anything super toxic. Just wash it off and clean up the area. Don't stress too much!

They were using Unilin foam boards for insulation. I know they’re meant to be safe since they're used in homes, but seeing them cut outside made me worry about microplastics and any chemicals used. I’ve heard that foam can have additives or flame retardants that might leach into the soil.

Just give them a good rinse! They'll be fine after a quick wash.
