Are My Dishes Safe After My Roommate Used Degreaser in the Sink?

Hey everyone! I need some advice here. My roommate accidentally clogged our kitchen drain by pouring a lot of fish fat down it. To fix the issue, they used a kitchen-grade degreaser, but it didn't work and now dirty water has filled up both sides of the sink, soaking some dishes that were already there. I'm worried if these dishes are now unsafe to use because of the degreaser and fat. Can I just scrub them really thoroughly and still use them? Thanks in advance for any help!

Honestly, they're just dishes. They get greasy all the time. Just wash them well and you'll be fine!

For sure, just give them a good wash in hot, soapy water, rinse them off, and you should be good to go! Dishes usually have a glazed finish that stops them from absorbing much, so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Totally agree! And just a thought—try to keep the peace with your roommate. They probably didn't mean any harm. Maybe have a little chat and remind everyone not to pour fat down the sink. It could help avoid future problems!
