I'm on the hunt for a new oven and I'm considering one that has both air fryer and microwave functions. I'm curious if these combo ovens really eliminate the need for having separate air fryers and microwaves. Are the cooking functions comparable to the individual appliances? Share your experiences!

From what I've seen, ovens that have an air fryer setting can be really handy, but they often don't replace a dedicated air fryer. For example, I have an oven with an air fryer feature, but it takes longer to cook than my stand-alone air fryer. It’s great for baking, but I personally wouldn’t rely on it for air frying.
Yeah, I think it's wise to have separate appliances to avoid any potential issues.
Combining the microwave and oven can be tricky. If you're using the oven, you might need to microwave something too, which can get complicated. Plus, if the microwave stops working, you'd be stuck with an expensive oven that can't microwave. Personally, I'd prefer separate appliances. They're easier to deal with if something goes wrong!
That’s exactly my worry. Losing multiple functions when one appliance breaks sounds frustrating.
Totally agree! Plus, microwaves are so affordable; it just makes sense to keep them separate.
While I think an oven with an air fryer function can replace a dedicated air fryer to an extent, you have more moving parts which means more chances for something to break. For example, my in-law's combo microwave oven hasn't worked as a microwave for ages, so now they just have a standalone one taking up space. Sometimes simpler is better!
This sounds like a nightmare! I would not want to deal with that kind of hassle.
Right? It seems that convenience might come at a cost in the long run.
That's good to know! I’m leaning towards keeping my standalone air fryer for crisping things.
