I'm thinking about buying a set of chisels and gouges, specifically from Pfeil. However, I've heard some mixed opinions lately. Someone mentioned that Pfeil tools used to be high quality but now they're using lower-grade steel. Is there any truth to this? I get that vintage tools are often seen as better than modern ones, but I'd like to know if Pfeil's current offerings are actually of lesser quality.

I bought 10 new Pfeil gouges last year, and I've used them loads. They've been fantastic so far—no complaints at all. I got mine from Chipping Away as well, and they were great to deal with. I even have some vintage SJ Addis tools, but I think I actually prefer the Pfeil! Just my two cents, though—everyone has different experiences!
