Are Tax Credits Still Available for Solar Installation?

Asked By SunnyDays123 On

I'm excited to finally purchase a solar panel system that includes solar cells and batteries. However, I've heard rumors that the tax deductions might be coming to an end. Can someone confirm if these tax credits are still available? Also, I'd love to know how to apply for them, what the conditions are, and any sources to check for further information. I'm located in Southern California, which might be relevant. Thanks!

The tax credits are still in play, just not for the entire solar system like some joke about the universe! Seriously, I called PG&E recently, and they confirmed that rebates are still being offered. Just be aware, as there are quite a few rules to follow. It's best to get in touch with Southern California Edison (SCE) directly to get the latest details.

Definitely! The 30% federal tax credit is viable through the tax year 2025 as long as your system is installed and operational by December 31, 2025. Just remember, you might be under NEM3 if your NEM2 application from the previous years has closed, so check into that too.

Got it! So there's a timeline I need to stick to. Are there any extra incentives from utilities to look out for?

Yes, you can still claim the 30% federal tax credit for your solar system! Just keep in mind that this credit is nonrefundable, meaning it can’t exceed your tax liability, but you can carry it forward if necessary. Make sure to look into the application process to avoid any hiccups.
