I'm trying to figure out if these two DeWalt tools are different models or not. Here are the links:
1. DeWalt DCD740N: [Amazon Link](https://www.amazon.com/DeWalt-DCD740N-XJ-Lithium-Ion-Cordless-2-Speed/dp/B006XBU80W)
2. DeWalt DCD740B: [Amazon Link](https://www.amazon.com/DEWALT-DCD740B-20-Volt-Li-Ion-Right/dp/B007ML7DHS)

If they are different, which one is the newer or better model? Thanks for your help!

The DCD740N is actually the European version, while the DCD740B is the model sold in the US and Canada. Functionally, they are essentially the same tool, differing mainly in branding. I own the DCD740B and can say it’s a solid choice for light-duty tasks, though it’s an older brushed model. Don't expect it to handle heavy-duty jobs like a 'hole hawg' though!

Just to clarify, the DCD740N is compatible with the 18V battery line, whereas the DCD740B uses the 20V line. Both are bare tools, meaning you'll need to buy batteries and chargers separately. Personally, I think the 20V is a bit better, but I went with a right angle adapter for my impact instead of a dedicated drill like this.

That's a great point about the battery compatibility! So if I have some Dewalt 20V batteries, I should just go with the DCD740B?
